Properties
This product sublimes at 280℃ under vacuum. It is soluble in dimethoxyethane, diglyme and THF, and slightly soluble in diethyl ether. It is stable in dry air but it can be hydrolyzed in moist air. This product is a mild high selective reducing agent, which can reduce ketones, aldehydes and acyl chloride in diethyl ether or diethylene glycol at 0℃. It can’t reduce aliphatic acid ester and nitrile, but can reduce phenyl esters of aliphatic acid and alicyclic acid.
Usage
It is used as reducing agent in organic synthesis of pharmaceuticals, perfumes, pesticides, dyes and other fine chemicals. It was widely used in reducing steroid ketone. It is used as the reducing agent for synthesizing Azanavir, which is an anti-AIDS API.
